Transplant Care
Liver transplantation is a life-saving option for patients with end-stage liver disease, acute liver failure, and selected liver tumors. Dr. Arefin coordinates the full transplant pathway — from initial workup and donor evaluation in Dhaka to partner-centre surgery and lifelong follow-up.
A full workup includes detailed hepatology assessment, cardiac and pulmonary clearance, viral screening, imaging, and donor evaluation for living-donor candidates. Dr. Arefin coordinates this multidisciplinary workup at Popular Medical College Hospital.
The transplant procedure itself is performed at established centres with which Dr. Arefin's team has long-standing referral relationships. Patients are accompanied through the surgery and brought back to Dhaka for follow-up.
Lifelong follow-up includes immunosuppression monitoring, liver function tests, infection surveillance, and management of long-term complications. Dr. Arefin coordinates this with the transplant centre.
